We are always looking for fun indoor play spaces. We used to go to the BounceU in Clarksburg years ago, but recently it closed down for some management changes and honestly, I was hesitant to go check it out. Previously the play space location was geared towards older kids and toddlers wouldn’t last more than 20 minutes.
Thankfully, things have changed! The first thing I noticed upon arrival was a much cleaner looking space.
The manager was super friendly, and the sign-in process was all electronic and updated. The safety video we were asked to watch was much shorter than it had been (while still getting the necessary points across!) so the kids were able to get bouncing much quicker.
Since my kids are two and four, we attended the preschool bounce. The session was two hours long, and we bounced (pun intended!) back and forth between two rooms in 30 minute increments. The first room had many of the same inflatables as it did previously, but most of the unsafe pieces that were geared towards older children has been removed. The large bounce mat no longer has a wrecking ball suspended from the ceiling, and thankfully, all the arcade games have been removed.
Replacing the games is a huge supply of large foam building blocks that the kids loved building with and climbing all over!
The obstacle course (always a hit) and inflatable basketball game remained, and two little inflatable bouncy ride-ons rounded out room number one.
After thirty minutes we were asked to move into the next room, and this was the space that was completely different from previous years. Gone was the giant sports themed field, the multi-level trampoline death trap, and the simulated hurricane machine (seriously – that used to be there in a place marketed towards preschoolers), and instead there were lots of new, preschool friendly options! There is a brand new interactive floor display with games, as well as several new bounce installments. There is also a gigantic slide, building blocks, and an air driven, bat-less ball game to keep even those not interested in bouncing occupied.
The best part about the second room: a bubble machine!
After the first hour was up, we repeated each of the rooms once more. Gone was the mid-break snack, which I personally think was the best change out of all of them. The party room is still there, and still available to rent for various functions.
My kids left BounceU happy and exhausted, which is exactly what we are looking for in any indoor play place.
PROS: Very preschool friendly. Lots of inflatables to provide a variety of activities, as well as several (safe) non-bouncing options.
CONS: When crowded, the place can get a little crazy. We happened to be there at the same time as a field trip and at times the inflatables were packed.
In exchange for my time and efforts in attending and reporting my opinion within this blog, as well as keeping you advised of the latest events, I received complimentary tickets to BounceU. Even though I receive these benefits, I always give an opinion that is 100% mine.
