The excitement began the moment we accepted an invitation to Calleva to celebrate Halloween in the Enchanted Forest. We all loved the children’s stories, both old and new, magically brought to life along the enchanted trail. The Enchanted Forest was created as an alternative to the absolutely terrifying Markhoff’s Haunted Forest also at Calleva. Little ones will be happy to hear that Halloween in the forest doesn’t have to be scary.
Our Adventure Crew ranges from 2 -8 years old and the experience was equally enchanting for all (The Enchanted Forest is recommended for kids 8 years and younger). There are nuances, details and humor that the older kids, and even parents can enjoy, but the costumes, characters and experience is Halloween fun for all ages. The evening starts with a tractor ride to the bonfire. Mother Goose guides each group to the petting zoo and then along the well lit path. The path winds through Mr. McGregor’s Garden, by the magical fairies and unicorns, on a voyage to Motonui Island, past the rainbow fairy & Leprechaun, sailing across the sea to the Wild Things, hearing the truth about the Big Good (Bad) Wolf, through the frozen Kingdom of Arendelle, and making a magic potion with a good Witch. The stories at each enchanted stop are performed almost all by children, who are having just as much fun performing with their friends as we did watching them. Seeing kids performing makes the whole experience even more magical! The Enchanted Forest goes through Jack’s Pumpkin Patch where kids can pick a pumpkin to take home. The trail ends back at the bonfire that is perfect for warming up while you wait.
