Today we mixed adventure with relaxation by lazily drifting down the scenic Shenandoah River with River and Trail Outfitters. It was such a beautiful and tranquil experience!

After checking in at the office, you drive about 7 minutes into West Virginia where you park and pick up your tubes (there are ropes available to tie your tubes together which I would highly recommend if you’re drifting with little ones!). A bus then takes you to the top of the river where you begin your adventure! You can stop along the way, abandon your tube and swim around a bit, or just drift.

It’s hard to remember that you’re only an hour outside of the city when you’re surrounded by such breathtaking scenery. My kids loved watching the Eagles soar above us. We felt so connected to nature.

It takes about 30 minutes to float the entire length of the river and you can do it as many times as you like until the last bus ride (4pm).
Trust me when I say you *NEED* closed-toed shoes…flip flops will not do! They are required to participate, and there are water shoes available for purchase at the check-in store in case you forget yours at home.

This was a really awesome experience that I can’t wait to do again, and we would highly recommend that our followers check it out! Remember, the fun doesn’t stop with tubing! They also offer kayak/canoeing, white water rafting, zip lining, food and drink tours, and biking!!
