We had an opportunity to check out Badlands in Rockville, MD earlier this week and I am and excited to share my experience with you!
Let me start with my favorite part of the night: We got home and my husband asked what we did today. “Well, the kids got to run around on rolling hills and climb mountains; we dabbled in some STEAM projects, were as one with nature in a butterfly exhibit…oh, and we had gluten free pizza and fruit for dinner” BOOM. You take care of bedtime AND the laundry, because my job here is done.
I did my research before heading over, and was excited to read that the 30,000 square foot play space “is an ideal environment for open-ended exploration, creativity and hands-on learning, offering a broad spectrum of activities for children of all ages that enable children to determine and push their own boundaries.”
My kids loved having all that open space, but even my three year old human tornado can’t run forever, so it was great to be able to wander over to ‘The Workshop’ which is filled with maker spaces. There was a lego section, a station with really cool play doh-type substance, and an area to make parachutes to be tested over a fanned tunnel, just to name a few.
We spent two hours playing, but I feel like my kids could have spent at least double that if had I let them.
Ok, I saved the best for last. You guys, their cafe not only serves specialty coffees, and really great food…they also have signature cocktails! That’s right, while your little ones are busy exhausting themselves, you can be enjoying a beer, wine, or cocktail with your friends! Fellow adventurers, have we found the holy grail?!
We had a great time at Badlands, and think you will, too! Hours and prices are available in the below link.
