My boys’ fascination with all things trains runs deep so we were so excited to check out the Beach Bound Rail Adventures at the B&O Railroad Museum! At the Beach Bound Rail Adventure, we were able to have some outside summer fun by bouncing in the bouncy house, enjoying water fun with water piping and small pools, and cooling off with some snow cones!
My kids, ages 4-7, stayed outside in the Beach Bound area for about 2 hours, they love playing in water in any kind! Toddlers and young preschoolers would be best entertained at the outdoor Beach Adventure. Visiting the Beach Bound Adventure is the only part of the fun of visiting the Railroad Museum! So much to see and so many trains!
The main area of the museum has many great artifacts and history of trains, a pure train enthusiast’s delight. My children and I enjoy the roundhouse where there are historic trains, many of which you are welcome to hop aboard to check out! For the youngest train fans, there is a kids’ zone complete with train tables, books, and coloring pages. The highlight of my children’s visit is always the outside train display where you can press the buttons (who doesn’t love to press ALL the buttons?) to move along the trains.
I would highly recommend getting a Choo Choo Blue’s Stamping Station form upon your arrival (one for each child participating as you earn a prize if you visit all 10 stations). These forms are included in your admission. The stamping stations are spread throughout the museum and really keep the children’s attention on the museum while they learn some interesting train facts! Make sure to visit Platform#1 where there is a mini train display. I think that my boys would still be there if they were allowed to spend the night!
The Beach Bound Rail Adventure is running through August 17th! Check out B&O
