Junior Zookeeper Summer Camp 2020

Learn what goes on behind the scenes at animal parks and zoos at our Jr. Zookeeper Camp! Help feed, groom and clean up after animals while learning about the responsibilities that come with caring for animals, habitats, conservation and more. Arts & crafts and play time on the park grounds, too!

Bretton Woods

The Summer Day Camp is the most traditional of camps at Bretton Woods. Campers spend their days playing field games, doing arts and crafts projects, learning group songs and games, and swimming under the guidance of experienced staff. Swim lessons are included in the cost of camp and a swim test is required for all campers each week in order to participate in free swim. Optional tennis lessons or soccer lessons are available.
Ages 5-12
Counselor in Training (CIT) program for campers ages 13-15.
The Bretton Wood Adventure Camp is a fun, active, educative, one-of-a-kind camp for youth. An environmental education component is embedded in a safe but challenging week of hiking, canoeing, fishing, rapid swimming, tubing, nature craft building, zip lines and rope-courses. State qualified and vetted staff provides a safe, fun and educational experience for all our participants.
Ages 6 to 15

Adventure Theatre MTC

Watch your child take the stage with their friends in a two-week, full-day camp at Glen Echo Park that culminates in a delightful ensemble musical performance.
Experience musical theater in a fun, full-day camp for grades 1 – 6. Your child will work alongside accomplished D.C. area theatre professionals and teaching artists during daily rehearsals in dancing, singing, and acting. With props and costumes, singing and scene-work, your child’s experience will culminate in a performance of a full, youth-appropriate show for friends and family. Please note that students are grouped with their peers, and casting is at the discretion of the director. Space is limited!

Every summer, the Shakespeare Theatre Company gives students between the ages of 7 and 18 the chance to dive into the world of one of the most celebrated playwrights in history: William Shakespeare.
Camp Shakespeare Teaching Artists create a unique curriculum aimed at optimizing students’ physical, intellectual and artistic development. All Teaching Artists are classically trained professional actors and educators.

Traveling Players Ensemble

Recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) as one of 25 “Summer Schools in the Arts,” Traveling Players summer camps and conservatories train actors by bringing classical theatre vibrantly alive. Keegan Theatre PLAY Camp

Come PLAY at Keegan this summer! Students build their theatre skills through an immersive exploration of design, movement, music, games, and more. Acorn Hill

The carefree days of summer are alive and well at Acorn Hill! The centerpiece of our day is play—free creative and unstructured play, indoors and outdoors—the true work, joy and developmental training ground of young children.
Outdoors, children experience our wooded playground, atop a hill adjacent to Sligo Creek Park. Sandcastles complete with moats and water, water play and mister, and bubbles are among the children’s playthings. Indoors, our teachers provide a rhythm of activities designed to bring balance to a child’s day, and a wealth of natural materials to give wings to the imagination.
Our week includes lively stories and puppet shows, singing and circle games, crafts, painting, gardening, baking or cooking, and a weekly nature walk. Our Summer Program is taught by experienced Waldorf early childhood educators. Children stay for lunch and bring a packed lunch from home. Half day and full day options. Full Day includes a 45 minute nap period. Indoor spaces are air-conditioned. Toileting mastery required.
