Create by the Creek: A Socially-Distant Celebration of Art and Community in Rock Creek Park, June 13-21
Any time between Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 21, find a safe, quiet spot in Rock Creek Park. Draw or paint a landscape—or a single flower. Write a rap or a poem. Take a photograph, record a TikTok, or make a collage.
Then share artwork using the hashtags #createbythecreek, #rockcreekpark, #loverockcreek, or #summerintheparks. To see what other people have been making, check out Create by the Creek on Instagram. Or follow the event on Facebook.
People of all ages and artistic experience are encouraged to participate in Create by the Creek, a week-long celebration of Rock Creek Park. No special art supplies are required.
Visitors to Rock Creek Park are urged to practice social distancing, to recreate responsibly, and to bring all art supplies back home. For more information on visiting hours, park rules and regulations, road closures, parking, restrooms, etc., check the National Park Service website. For more information about this event, please visit the Friends of Peirce Mill.
Create by the Creek is organized by the Friends of Peirce Mill, the National Park Service, the Washington Studio School, and the Rock Creek Conservancy.
