October 21 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm$30
Garageband is a free, easy-to-use audio program that allows even the most inexperienced musician wield the power of a music studio in the comfort of their own home. This 90-minute, lecture-style introductory class will cover the basics of multi-track recording, such as setting the tempo and key of a song, recording from microphones and live instruments, and performing fundamental audio edits.
This class is geared towards beginners with little to no experience with home recording. Participants are not required to attend the workshop with any pre-prepared musical materials—however, participants must have Garageband version 10 or later and be confident with using Zoom. Workshop capacity will be limited to 15 people.
McKinley is a long-time songwriter and self-taught musical producer who has used her arsenal of more than 30 instruments to write, record, mix, and publish 8 full-band studio albums from her Virginia home. In addition to offering lessons in piano (beginner to intermediate), accordion (beginner), harp (beginner), and music theory (beginner to intermediate), she is also passionate about teaching DIY home production techniques, songwriting, post-production, mixing, and using recording softwares such as Ableton and Garageband. Since her passion lies in sharing the joys of music with other people, she is happy to work with students of all ages and tailor her lesson plans according to each student’s skillset, regardless of their education or musical background.
