Opening Weekend: The David H. Koch Hall of Fossils – Deep Time at The Natural History Museum

Dinosaurs are back! Join us to celebrate their return! Bring your inner child and your actual child on a trip back in time to see how Earth’s past informs the present and the future.

A celebratory opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 10:15 a.m. The first 300 visitors to the museum’s Madison Drive entrance will be able to participate in a ceremony in the Rotunda.

Weekend Highlights:
– Prehistoric animal mask-making (on Saturday, at 8:30am on the National Mall).

– Converse with Smithsonian paleontologists.

– Meet special guest Dr. Scott Sampson (PBS’ Dinosaur Train) for an interactive program about paleontology (Saturday only).

– Examine real fossils in hands-on activities throughout the museum.

– Roaming puppetry shows and historic costumed characters.

– Watch fossil-themed films about elephants, whales, and birds.
