Finding Neverland is at National Theater through March 3, 2019. We were invited to opening night for big adventures and a little bit of pixie dust. Directed by visionary Tony-winner Diane Paulus and based on the critically-acclaimed Academy Award winning film, FINDING NEVERLAND, this musical tells the magical story behind the characters and play Peter Pan by playwright J.M. Barrie. The relationships Barrie had with Sylvia Llewelyn Davies and her family allows Barrie to embrace his playful nature, lending ideas and characters that would later be included in Peter Pan.
Finding Neverland is recommended for ages 7 and up. Children under the age of 4 are not admitted due to content involving death and infidelity. My date for the evening is a huge Peter Pan fan so the second act, which contains more of the characters from Peter Pan, was our favorite part. The first act explores the life of Barrie, the man behind Peter Pan, his relationships and his upbringing. The second act celebrates the success of the play Peter Pan. All of the performers were amazing, but as a parent the Llewelyn Davies children were a stand out. Their musical performances were our favorite part.
Run time: Approximately 2 hours and 25 minutes, including one intermission
