Greenbrier State Park was so much fun! I grew up at the beach and I feel like that has left me a little suspicious of lake water (it’s stagnate! Doesn’t that mean it’s full of bacteria!!?? Side Note: not if it is a state park where the water is tested regularly).
I spent a majority of our 30 minute drive making my kids promise not to swallow lake water and assuming I would stay on the safe, on dry land (good luck, kids!), but ended up swimming (ok, wading) most of the time! I really loved how shallow the water was; the swim area is roped off and there is another rope dividing shallow from deep, but even at it’s deepest point it only came up to my chest. The lack of waves made it awesome for my 3 year old. The beach was clean and my kids had a fantastic time.
Know Before You Go:
There are bathrooms/showers, a first aid station and concession stand.
The beach is guarded.
$3/ person entrance, but kids in car seats are free.
On weekends it tends to get crowded and they will close the stand if the park reaches full capacity, so get there early or on a weekday.
You can bring your own food and drink.
There is a hiking path (kid friendly, not stroller friendly) that ends at a waterfall!
