For years I have been hearing that Les Misérables is the most phenomenal musical, so I was really excited to finally experience it for myself and see if it lived up to the hype. DID. IT. EVER.
I’ve never been disappointed by a performance at The National Theatre, so I assumed it would be good. But let me tell you that this show blew my wildest expectations out of the water.
This tragic yet hopeful story was performed flawlessly and held me captive on the edge of my seat for the entire performance. The singing was beyond stunning, and I swear the roof shook from applause after “I Dreamed a Dream” and “Bring Him Home”.
Les Miz has been in production around the world for 32 years, but there is something especially magical about seeing such a timeless musical in an equally classic venue such as The National Theatre. The live orchestra complemented the outstanding performance by the actors perfectly and left me in tears.
I would encourage our followers to grab tickets while you can. Les Miz would be an unforgettable date night or girls night out (I wouldn’t recommend bringing young children). Tickets can be purchased here.
According to the website, “Cameron Mackintosh presents the new production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg’s Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables, direct from an acclaimed two-and-a-half-year return to Broadway. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption –a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Featuring the thrilling score and beloved songs “I Dreamed A Dream,”“On My Own,”“Stars,” “Bring Him Home,”“One Day More,” and many more, this epic and uplifting story has become one of the most celebrated musicals in theatrical history.
