Alpine Adventures is tucked in between the shops on Main Street in Lincoln, New Hampshire. It’s like entering into a secret world. Above the entrance is part of the Thrillsville Aerial Park and beside the parking lot is the Colossus Stunt Ramp. The atmosphere is fun and exciting as you walk under the aerial park to check in for your adventure. It’s hard to believe there is a Dunkin Donuts across the street from this adventure headquarters. The adventure continues down the road at Barron Mountain. Alpine Adventures offers zip line, off-roading, aerial park, tubing and back country trek adventures. The headquarters has everything you need to be prepared for your big adventure. You can rent a locker, get a go pro and hit the restroom while you wait for your guide. Speaking of guides, Alpine Adventures guides are well trained and skilled professionals. You can sit back in your harness or bucket seat and enjoy the ride knowing they have everything under control.
Adventure Dad and I were able to squeeze in an Adventure Date with an Off-Road Tour. The 6-wheel drive Swiss army transport vehicles, called Pinzgauers, carry up to 11 adventurers on a 1 1/2 hour off-road roller coaster ride scaling Barron Mountain. The ride is a combination of off-road thrills and White Mountain scenic views. While Alpine Adventures requires passengers be 3 years or older to ride, please consider your individual child(ren) when deciding. While our children would have been safe on the tour with us, at least one of them would not have enjoyed the rough ride due to age, personality or vacation sleep deprivation. Luckily for us, Adventure Dad used to be a Pinzgauer tour guide in Hawaii so we knew what to expect. After a brief introduction and safety briefing our tour guide, Cadre, headed towards Barron Mountain. We rambled through the forest stopping to see parts of the zipline course. As we walked along the treetop rope bridges to the first zipline platform Cadre shared a little of the Alpine Adventures philosophy which gently encourages guests to challenge themselves and push their comfort zones to experience new adventures. We climbed the top of Barron Mountain to enjoy the White Mountains views and take pictures. The views were beautiful and I can only imagine how gorgeous they would be with fall foliage or covered in snow since Alpine Adventures offers year round adventure. Throughout the tour Cadre was playful, friendly, knowledgable as he entertained everyone with his driving and jokes.
Our previous experience as outdoor tour guides offers a unique perspective as participants. We were very impressed with the whole operation. Alpine Adventures is different than a lot of other companies due to the “can-do” attitude and a dedication from the entire staff to offer legendary experiences for all their guests. The staff and guides are encouraging without being pushy and honest while still fun. We are really looking forward to visiting Alpine Adventures again to try different activities, hopefully with some children along for the ride.
