We made a quick trip up to New York City to see Sesame Street Live! Let’s Party! at the theatre at Madison Square Garden. It was fun being in a new neighborhood while we met our favorite characters from one of the world’s most famous streets, Sesame Street. The show included a pre-show with time on stage visiting Sesame Street and off stage with crafts/learning activities. Our littlest is really into Sesame Street these days and once the show started she wasn’t the only one squealing with excitement when each character came out on stage. We learned new songs and sung along to familiar favorites with Oscar and Cookie Monster. We built a snowman with Elmo, flapped our wings with Big Bird, marveled at Abby’s magic, amazed by flying Super Grover and moved to the rhythm with Rosita.
The Sesame Street community discovers choosing a party theme is more challenging than they could have ever imagined. The letter of the day is ‘C’ which stands for community and compromise, among other things, which we learn are an essential part of planning a neighborhood party. We learn that it’s the things that make us different that makes our community special. Sesame Street Live! Let’s party! brings all the educational fun of Sesame Street to the stage! Sesame Street Live is definitely one of the best live shows with TV or movie characters we have seen. The production was colorful, lively, age appropriate and fun with some lessons on friendship and community tucked in between.
From the DC area a road trip up to NYC is only about 4 hours. If you have the chance to get up to Madison Square Garden for a show it’s a great venue. It’s easy to get to on the train, there are parking garages near by, it’s centrally located in the city and there really aren’t any bad seats in the place!
