I don’t know if it’s my memories of Mr Roger’s Neighborhood, the songs that are on point or the adorable little voice, but I love Daniel Tiger! As far as children’s programming goes, I agree with my littles, it’s grrrrrific! When the Weinberg Center for the Arts offered to host us for Daniel Tiger Live I was just as excited as my children!
Daniel Tiger and his friends take you through the neighborhood exploring the different ways you can choose to be kind. We started at school where we learned that even though we are all different we are all the same too. Then Daniel Tiger helped O the Owl be brave at show and tell. Next Daniel Tiger became King for a day and, after visiting Baker Aker and Music Man Stan, learned that the most important rule for being a good King (& neighbor) is to be kind and help neighbors.
Daniel Tiger and his friends sing many of the popular songs, dance and ride the trolley. The show consist of two acts, each of them are about 45 minutes long. There is a good mix of scenes, songs and make believe with Daniel Tiger to keep the littlest Daniel Tiger fans entertained.
We enjoyed Daniel Tiger Live at “the Jewel of Frederick”, the Weinberg Theatre. The Weinberg Center for Arts is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to helping bring high-quality arts performances to the Weinberg Theatre. The Family Series offers a wide variety of performances including Flip FabriQue, the Nutcracker by the Maryland Regional Ballet, A Christmas Carol by Maryland Ensemble Theatre’s Fun Company, and the Weinberg Winterfest.
Know before you go:
- Park in the Court Street Garage for easy exit from the Theatre to the garage after large shows. (Get there early, the garage fills up quickly!)
- There are refreshments for sale, but the bathrooms are small for a full house crowd so don’t try to go to the Women’s room during intermission.
- Frederick is full of great stores (The Dancing Bear), delicious restaurants (Pretzel & Pizza Creations, Sabor de Cuba & Family Meal) and yummy treats (Cakes to Die For)
- The Weinberg Theatre is very family friendly and community oriented. During our visit Wonder Book was in the lobby giving away free used children’s books.
