I’m not sure there are words to truly capture the magic that is seeing Septime Webre’s The Nutcracker performed by The Washington Ballet at Warner Theatre.
My six-year-old daughter and I attended a performance this past weekend and it was absolutely spectacular. Everything about the experience is memorable and whimsical; from the first step into the majestic theater until the last bow by the talented performers.
I especially love this production for the little nods it gives to DC, such as having Clara’s family party take place in Georgetown.
The cast is jaw-droppingly talented. Brooklyn Mack absolutely stole the show as The Snow King. It is a two-hour production with intermission, but I wish it could have gone on even longer! My daughter had no problem sitting through the performance and was also disappointed when it came to an end.
While this may be a splurge for some families, experiencing this holiday classic is definitely a splurge worth making! My daughter hasn’t stopped raving about it, and I know this special night out together will be one both she and I will remember for years to come!
