I must admit, I was hesitant to take my kids to a baseball game. I have only one experience with such events: a pro game, Atlanta vs. Philly, and it went into triple overtime, finally ending at 0-1. That was over 10 years ago and to this day I feel sleepy just thinking about it.
However, in the name of adventure and at the advice of friends, I decided to check off one of our ‘summer bucket list’ items and take my kids to a Frederick Keys game.
I’m so glad I did!! What an amazing and memorable night!! First of all, tickets are CHEAP! (Mind you I originally looked up tickets to the Nationals and fainted- I highly recommend minor league if you’re on a budget!). Plus, they have lots of great deals such as “kids wear a uniform and get in free night”.
We happened to go on Minion night, so we were greeted by and got to take pictures with three Minions as soon as we walked in. There were so many free activities including face painting, cupcakes for Keyote (the mascot)’s birthday, and running the bases after the game! There were booths giving away freebies, great food, and craft beer from local breweries (wine, too!). There was also a carousel and bounce houses available for the kids during the game. We had great seats even though we arrived late (there really arent any “bad” seats), and most importantly, there was a firework show after the game!!
My whole family had a wonderful night and we will definitely be making this a yearly tradition!
