You may think you know the story of Peter Pan. So did we, until we saw the World premier of Tinker Bell at Adventure Theatre MTC this past weekend. Written by DC playwright Patrick Flynn and directed by Nick Olcott, the latest production at Adventure Theatre MTC shows a new perspective of an old classic.

We meet Tinker Bell on a magical Fairy island when children’s belief in fairies starts to drop causing fairies to die off. Tinker Bell leaves her wonderful island in search of a friend. Tinker Bell meets Peter Pan who has run away from home to avoid the grown up plans his parents have for him. Peter Pan and Tinker Bell return to her island where Peter thrives. The adventures of this unlikely duo explores the complexity of friendship (& other relationships). We uncover the importance of close relationships and what it means when someone we love makes us angry. Tinker Bell’s perspective deviates from the old script, that portrays her as jealous and vengeful, and presents a new character struggling with insecurity, loyalty and forgiveness. Pirates and fairies make these complex subjects fun and entertaining!

The sets and costumes are stunning, as always! We don’t want to spoil the magic of the show so we won’t reveal how the flying happens, but the creative minds at Adventure Theatre MTC have created some out of the box solutions to casting a non-flying human as a tiny fairy and other humans as flying children.
Tinker Bell runs through August 19, 2018. Tickets on sale now!
