We are always on the hunt for indoor activities to enjoy as a family and this adventure really hit the mark! Ultimate Archery is Virginia’s only family-friendly archery dodgeball arena. If you aren’t exactly sure what that means, you definitely want to find out!
We were invited to come check out this new indoor family adventure in Sterling, VA. After a 15 minute introduction with target practice, we were divided into two teams to battle it out Ultimate Archery style. We played several different games, all guided by the experienced and friendly staff. There is no experience necessary. We had just been to Family Camp where we all had a chance to shoot but everyone in our group was still an archery novice. We quickly got the hang of it and showcasing our competitive spirits.
The basic rules stay the same as the games change. The arena is set up like dodgeball with teams on opposite sides of the arena trying to hit each other with a foam-tipped arrow (don’t worry, they are soft and won’t leave a mark or bruise). Once you’re hit you are “out” (or in some cases you “go to jail”). The objective is always the same – tag out all the opposing team’s players with the arrows. Once a team no longer has any players in the arena, the other team is declared the winners and the next game begins. The rules switch up every each game, for instance, you can catch an arrow to free yourself from jail in one game and during the next a teammate can hit a target to get you back “in”. We really enjoyed all the fun twists the different games offered.
Ultimate Archery is a really fun and exciting way to spend time as a family, and not a bad workout either! This action-packed experience can be enjoyed by anyone 7 years or older. During regular sessions you can book into a public game and join other players, or you can reserve the entire arena for a private session for larger groups (up to 40).
