The Wiz is truly something special and a must-see family performance! The Tony-Winning musical features Ines Nassara as a fierce Dorothy who meets Hasani Allen as the hilarious Scarecrow, Kevin McAllister as the soulful Tinman, and Christopher Michael Richardson as the exuberant Lion on her way to seek passage home from Jobari Parker-Namdar as The Wiz.
Set in the iconic Ford’s Theatre, it is hard to believe that so much talent can fit on one stage! The production is a beautiful celebration of black culture accompanied by stellar choreography and powerful vocals. The modern multimedia set makes excellent use of the theatre space and compliments the updated storyline perfectly.
Never a dull moment, this production of The Wiz captures the spirit of the original while also brining the timeless story into the modern era. The tornado scene combines choreography and engineering to blow the audience away as you are transported from rural Kansas to the magical land of Oz. Costumes and makeup are a combination of retro and modern, creatively woven together. There is comedy for all ages and poignant life lessons about resilience and the power of our closest relationships. Parents can look forward to the field of poppies scene, and all of the musical numbers that include soul, gospel, R&B and pop.
Everything about this performance was flawless, from the incredible costumes to the powerful acting. We enjoyed the show and would highly recommend our followers experience it for themselves! Doors to the museum open one hour prior to the show, so make sure you arrive early! The show is recommended for ages 8 and up. Tickets can be purchased here.
