We had SO much fun cruising with pirates along the Potomac on The Boomerang Pirate Ship!
Once we were onboard, one of the crew members explaining that one of their fellow pirates, Edgar the Evil, had abandoned ship earlier that morning leaving nothing behind but a note promising to come back and use the stolen keys to heist the treasure chest that he left on ship.
After this ominous warning, we headed out for a beautiful cruise down the Potomac. But as luck would have it, Edgar came racing up on a speedboat in an attempt to retrieve the booty!! To the delight of all the children, they were able to hold him off with water cannons, and after he retreated, we continued down river.
The kids were thrilled when Edgar’s final attempt at thievery was thwarted once again by the water cannons, and he surrendered the keys before waving the white flag and heading back to shore. The kids celebrated with pirate limbo and everyone got to choose a piece of booty from the pirate chest to take home.
I was so impressed with this hour-long adventure! You can tell there was a lot of thought put into making the cruise a great experience for all! All fun, no boredom for my kids… there was upbeat music playing the whole time and lots of activities to keep them busy between Edgar’s visits. Face painting, tattoos, water sprayers…and the crew was absolutely fantastic; they never stopped interacting with the kids or broke character (they only spoke pirate-speak, and taught us some key words, too!).
And what is a pirate ship without rum? Not a real pirate ship, in my opinion, so I was excited to see the onboard bar! Cocktails on the water while pirates are entertaining my kids- now that’s what I call the perfect adventure!
We would highly recommend our followers experience The Boomerang Pirate Ship!! It was a fantastic afternoon that my kids can’t stop talking about! This would be a perfect outing with friends or family, and would also make an amazing birthday party!!
Know before you go:
You can book your reservations here
The boat picks you up promptly from the dock in front of Nick’s Waterside Grill. I used that address in my GPS to get me to the general area before choosing a parking garage.
Clean bathrooms onboard.
Complimentary water available.
Snacks and drinks available for purchase on board.
While there are plenty of parking garages in the area, I would suggest aiming to get there a half hour earlier than you think you need to be, because sometimes the garages fill up and it’s hard to predict when that will happen.
The ship is stroller accessible.
Lots of great restaurants in the area, and lots to explore, you could make a day of it!
One of our favorite spray-grounds is just a few steps from the dock, so consider letting the kids wear bathing suits under their clothes if it’s a hot day!
